Many 12v and 24 volt automotive alternator removals and replacements can be carried out on site.
Battery test and vehicle charging system testing available.
Troubleshooting of alternator charging circuit problems
Auto electrical diagnostics wiring faultfinding and repair.
Test and repair facilities for many vehicle rotating electrics units
A failing forklift alternator can mean the battery loses power and doesn't get recharged.
Discharged diesel or lpg forklift battery can cause engine starting difficulties.
Diesel / Gas Forklift battery warning light lit permanently while the engine is running ?
The forklift battery and electrical charging system should be tested.
Visual checks with the engine stopped for :
fan belt tension and alternator mounting security
check for oil leaks and coolant leaks onto the alternator which may have caused component failure.
Illumination of the battery charge warning lamp may indicate wiring loom problems exist.
Broken wiring can cause the battery charge warning light to remain off when the ignition key is turned on.
Check all electrical connections are secure and wiring loom is in good condition.
Check all fuses are intact. A blown fuse may indicate a short circuit or current over loading requiring further investigation and repair.
Check all alternator heat shields are in place .
A multimeter can be used to quickly test or diagnose a failed alternator.
A multimeter set to dc volts range can verify battery voltage.
A battery voltage check with the engine running at fast idle should show increased voltage if the alternator is charging he battery.
Incorrect alternator output voltage ( alternator overcharging or undercharging ) can affect sensitive vehicle computer systems and related systems.
Typical voltage for a 12 volt charging system
would be :
Engine off : 12.5 volts
Engine running at 2000 rpm : 13.2 to 14.6 volts at battery(regulated voltage)
A 12v battery system voltage over 15 volts with the engine running may indicate an alternator voltage regulation fault.
